MY "MOTORSICKLE" HISTORY

My first ride on two wheels was on a 1948 or 1949 Indian Chief when I was in the 5th or 6th grade.  That made a lasting impression on me and started my liking fof "motorsickles."

My first two-wheeler was a 1949 Cushman scooter I bought in 1959, I believe.  I don't have a photo of it, but I did find a shot of one like it on the web:

While home on leave from the Navy in 1965, I rode around on a 305 Honda that belonged to a friend:

After I was discharged from the Navy in 1967, I bought a 1966 650 BSA Lightning:

I was without a bike for a number of years after I finally got rid of the BSA, except for some dirt riding to amuse myself now and then.  Eventually, I bought a junk 1979 Sportster I called "Stumpullerratscooter."

It did amusing mechanical things far too often, so I got rid of it when a Harley shop foreman made an offer I couldn't refuse. Shortly after selling it, I found a 1981 BMW R100 I still own.  I've put many trouble-free miles on it.....

I had a 1965 BMW R69s for a while, but didn't ride it since it had less than 10,000 miles on it.  I thought I'd show it now and then, but didn't due to time limitations.   I sold it in 1995............

I owned a 1995 K75s BMW for three years, and sold it in April, 2002, in preparation for getting the BugWing on the road.  With exception of the slight forward lean I found uncomfortable on a long ride, it felt and handled better than any bike I've ever owned..........

In September, 2002, the BugWing finally hit the road.
